Kane Equals Shilton's 125-Cap Record With Brace as England Cruise Past Czechia 3-0
Harry Kane chose the perfect night to make history. On his 125th England appearance — drawing level with Peter Shilton as the nation's most-capped player — the captain scored twice as Thomas Tuchel's side rounded off the international break in style with a 3-0 Nations League win over Czechia at Wembley.
Tuchel rang the changes after the 7-0 demolition of Croatia, bringing in Trent Alexander-Arnold, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Morgan Rogers and Eberechi Eze. After a low-key opening, England's opener arrived on 27 minutes in slightly fortuitous fashion: Kane's cross, intended for Eze, was stabbed into his own net by former West Ham defender Vladimir Coufal.
From there, England took control. Jude Bellingham danced through the Czech defence, Alexander-Arnold curled in a series of dangerous crosses, and on 40 minutes the captain got the goal his night deserved — latching onto Morgan Rogers' first-time pass after Elliot Anderson's superb 30-yard ball to finish clinically for his 90th England goal.
Kane wasn't done. Just before the hour mark, he rose to nod home Lewis Hall's perfectly weighted curling corner, making it 3-0 and taking his tally to 91 international goals. Few would now bet against him becoming the first England player to reach a century.
The closing stages drifted, but Tuchel won't mind. Three wins from three to end the break, 14 goals scored and only three conceded across the four Nations League matches — this has been an impressive camp. England sit second in Group 3 of League A, three points behind leaders Spain and six clear of third-placed Croatia, and are all but assured of a quarter-final spot with two games remaining.
The break also offered encouragement beyond Kane. Rogers impressed on his start, Anderson's passing range caught the eye, and the squad's depth looks stronger than it has in years. With Croatia away on November 12 and world champions Spain in Madrid three days later, sterner tests await — but England head into them with momentum, goals, and a captain writing history.
